Knowledge exchange and collaboration are core aspects of the HatcheryMatch project, which was demonstrated earlier this month as aquaculture consultant Davide Sorella from project partner AquaBioTech Group gave 15 students from the IOI (International Ocean Institute) Malta Training Course on Ocean Governance a presentation about the HatcheryMatch project. Davide introduced the cohort of students to the two Malta-based partners of the project, AquaBioTech Group and The Department of Food Sciences and Nutrition at the 马耳他大学-食品科学和营养学院, as well as the two China-based partners, Qingdao Blue Granary Ocean Fishery Development Co., Ltd. and the Fishery Machinery and Instrument Research Institute at the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences.

The students also had the opportunity to learn about the ongoing development of four new automated hatchery technologies which are being designed to improve larval fish feeding, water quality, and embryonic categorization, in turn reducing stress and losses during the hatchery phase of marine fish lifecycles.

The International Ocean Institute’s training program is a 5-week long course for professionals with coastal and marine related interests and aims to facilitate expertise and capacity building  on contemporary regional issues surrounding ocean management and governance.
