AquaBioTech Group is an independent aquaculture, fisheries, biotechnology and environmental testing/research, engineering, consulting, development, and training company with its own dedicated research and marine survey facilities.

AquaBioTech Group undertakes a variety of aquaculture, fisheries and aquatic environmental projects through its regional offices and selected partners throughout the world. The majority of AquaBioTech Group’s work is related to the marine or aquatic environment, encompassing aquaculture developments, market research / intelligence, through to project feasibility assessments, finance acquisition, project management, technology sourcing and technical support and training. The University of Malta (UM) is a public non-profit body of higher education. The College was raised to University status by Grand Master Manoel Pinto de Fonseca in 1769. There are over 10,000 students including over 750 foreign/exchange students from nearly 80 different countries, following full-time or part-time degree and diploma courses.

The University has been involved as coordinator and partner in numerous EU-funded projects under various Programmes including FP5 (11 projects), FP6 (39 project) FP7 (50 projects), Horizon 2020 (32 projects awarded so far), INTERREG (44 projects), Lifelong Learning Programme, Culture 2000, Tempus, Research and innovation projects and various other international and regional programmes and initiatives.

Chinese Lead Partner

Fishery Machinery and Instrument Research Institute

Fishery Machinery and Instrument Research Institute (FMIRI), founded in May 1963, is the only research institute in China engaged in key technology research and development of fishery equipment and engineering. There are more than 153 staff working at FMIRI, 145 of them are scientific researchers.

FMIRI has six research department, including recirculating aquaculture engineering, ecological engineering, marine fishing vessels and equipment, processing equipment, quality and standardization, information and strategy, which comprehensively cover the main research contents of fishery equipment and engineering. And the scientific magazine 《Fishery Modernization》 successfully joined in core journals of Chinese science and technology. Over the past 50 years, FMIRI has won more than 83 scientific and technological awards, including 12 national awards, which has made great promotion for development Chinese fishery.

FMIRI has set several platforms on fishery equipment science and technology research, such as Laboratory of Fishery Equipment and Engineering under Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Deep Sea Fishery joint labs under Pilot National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology(Qingdao), Key Laboratory of Aquatic Healthy Cultivation System Engineering under CAFS and etc. We also built three scientific base, including Fishery equipment experimental pilot base (Shanghai), Industrialized Aquaculture pilot base(Jiangsu), pond ecological engineering pilot base(Shanghai) and etc.

Since 1963, FMIRI developed plenty of new technologies and equipment for the modernization of fishery and 80% of them have been successfully applied in more than 20 provinces, such as standardization of fishing vessels, recirculating aquaculture system, pond ecology, aquatic product processing and etc. which have received significant economic, social, and ecological benefits.
